Wolves fall to Stanley in softball action

While Watford City would out-hit Stanley, 11-10 in varsity girls softball action on May 5, the Wolves would dropped the game, 7-3.
The Blue Jays jumped out to a quick, 4-0, first inning lead that proved to be the difference in the game.
Watford City would score one run in the bottom of the second inning, but Stanley would tack on three more runs in the top of the fourth inning to silence the Wolves.
Two runs in the bottom of the fifth helped the Wolves close their deficit to 7-3. A single by Mikka Haugeberg allowed her to be a scoring run. A single by Kara Langerud gave her the RBI, and along with an RBI by Mayne’s double, ended the Wolves’ scoring.
McKenna Mayne, who singled in the second inning and doubled in the fifth, reached base three times as she scored one run and had one RBI.
On the mound, Kamryn Grimes took the loss for Watford City as she allowed seven runs in seven innings, walked three and struck out eight.
Watford City left 10 runners stranded on base.
