Watford City hosted Jamestown to end the regular season last Friday. The Wolves raced out to a fast start, but could not hold the momentum, as they lost 34-16.
Watford City opened the game with a 10-play, 80-yard drive that ended with a 4-yard touchdown run by senior quarterback, Paco Baldenegro. Hunter Barlow added the 2-point conversion to make it 8-0 with 7:33 left in the first quarter. Will Langford snagged an interception to end Jamestown’s first drive and set up the Wolves offense at their own 46-yard line. Again, the Wolves ran 10 plays and again they scored a touchdown, this time a 2-yard run by Josh Chavez. Carter Breitbach converted the two-pointer to put the Wolves ahead 16-0 with 1:33 left in the opening quarter.
“Lately, we’ve kind of raced out of the gate fast,” said Watford City head coach, Jim Dooley. “We did the same on Friday. We found a few things early where we could mess with some of their defensive keys and that gave us a few big plays.”
