Watford City split two non-conference home games against AA competition.

Minot High JV 56,
Watford City 44

On December 30, Minot High JV visited the Rough Rider Center and defeated the Wolves 56-44. The Majettes offense played consistently all night long, scoring 11 points or more in each quarter.
“Minot is tough offensively,” said Watford City head coach, Tom Dwyer. “They just don’t have very many weaknesses. They have a lot of good shooters and a lot of good attackers. They do a great job of attacking and moving the ball until someone gets a good shot.”
Kinley Bartsch paced the Majettes with 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting, including three 3-pointers. Everette Deschamp had 10 points and eight rebounds.
Watford City got a great effort from freshman Harlee Jacobson in this game. She led the Wolves with 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting. “Harlee is a player that has the ‘it’ factor that you can’t really coach,” said Coach Dwyer. “I have never once seen Harlee not give 100 percent on every single play in every practice and every game. The effort she gives on every single play is the number one reason she makes so many plays for our team. She is not the tallest player, although she can jump very high. But mostly it’s just seeing how she wants to go get the basketball more than any other player on the court at any moment in the game. She will get rebounds over girls that are a foot taller than her by simply giving more effort. She’s a play maker. She will get steals and force turnovers on defense. She will attack with the ball and make a good pass or finish a tough layup. Watching Harlee play with 100% effort on every single play is so much fun.”
