On Dec. 21, 2024, the 19U girls traveled 5.5 hours to Langdon to take on the Blades. The WC/Blades match up has always been a tight, low scoring games and this would follow that path.
The game was sloppy and disorganized from the start with neither team getting a lot of quality offensive chances. After 50 scoreless minutes an unlikely hero appeared. Bria Samuelson picked up a loose puck and circled the zone looking for a shot, her chaos had the Blades scrambling trying to cut her off. At the last moment before her shot she dropped the puck off to Lyrik Olson. Lyrik looked like a 50 goal scorer, sniping her first 19U goal, from the blue line to give the Oilers a 1-0 lead that would also be the final.
