The girls had a slow weekend, only playing one game in Crosby on Sunday.
The Oilers dominated the first period, outshooting the Comets 27-1. After another faceoff win by Emree Wold, Eastyn Wold picked up the puck, wheeled back and forth in the zone before putting a hard backhand shot on goal, the goalie kicked it right back to Emree for the tap in goal. The Wolds reversed the scoring later the same shift, another faceoff win by Emree got the puck on Eastyn’s stick. After she put a shot on goal, Emree retrieved the loose puck and fed the puck back to Eastyn in front for the one-timed goal. The third Oilers goal came on the power play. Everyone touched the puck for the Oilers, Emree passed to Maddy Greenhaw at the blue line, Maddy passed down the boards to Eastyn, Eastyn and Kaylor Knutson executed a give and go behind the net leading to Eastyn scoring the wrap around goal. 3-0 Oilers after 1.
Crosby wouldn’t give up and they scored the next 2 goals to make it 3-2. The Oilers got the 2-goal lead back on the power play. Maddy made another nice play on the blue line getting the puck back low to Eastyn, Kaylor picked it up from Eastyn and fed Emree a sweet pass in front for an open shot and goal.
The final goal of the game resulted from hard work and smart hockey. Neveah Garcia chased down a loose puck behind the net, she looked around patiently before finding Bria Samuelson in the corner. Bria scanned the ice and saw no one in front of her, she carried the puck out of the corner and sniped the goalie to give the Oilers their final goal. 5-2 final, Sierra Blegen made 7 saves in the win.
The Oilers have one weekend of game left in the regular season. They play in Sidney on Friday night and at home vs Hazen on Sunday.
