Cornell Wollan

Cornell Wollan, 77, passed away April 10, 2025, at the Country House Memory Care in Dickinson, N.D., from complications of Lewy Body Dementia. His long struggle ended.
Cornell Stuart Wollan was born Oct. 28, 1947, in Williston, N.D., to Lynn and Mildred (Felland) Wollan. He was the middle child of five siblings and a lifelong McKenzie County resident. He attended school at Charlson, N.D., and Watford City graduating in 1965. He attended business school in Minot, N.D. Cornell married Noreen Agvik in 1970 and to this union two children were born. Darnell and Bradley. They were engaged in agriculture and Cornell always held a love for farming, ranching, and the land which was instilled by his father-in-law. Noreen and Cornell later divorced.
Cornell and Laurel Olson started a new mid-life chapter in their lives which developed into a beautiful novel. They became lifelong partners for 24 years and made their home in rural Arnegard.
Cornell was a kind and gentle soul with a big heart. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, birding, and hiking in the Badlands, especially with brother Miles. He loved blue skies, nature, the beauty of the land, and his grandchildren. Cornell worked many various jobs in his lifetime. Farming, water well service, Total Safety, Baker Petrolite, and Cenex.
He will be missed dearly but will be at peace now.
Cornell is survived by his children, Darnell, Brad (Cindy) Wollan; significant other, Laurel Olson; sister, Linda Nelson; brothers, Miles and Arden (Pyong) Wollan; Noreen Wollan; Madeline Miller; sister-in-law, Myrna Wollan; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Grandchildren, Briana, Nikita, Dakota, Mason Wollan; and great grandchildren, Qui’Anna and Quincy.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, David; brother-in-law, Barry Nelson; niece, Tammy Pederson; sisters-in-law, Sandra Wollan, Kim Wollan; and nephew, Jeff Nelson.
Cornell’s Memorial Service will be held on Fri., April 18, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Watford City, North Dakota, with Minister Matthew Rolfson officiating.
A luncheon will follow for a time of fellowship and sharing. Visitation is Thurs., April 17, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fulkerson Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Watford City, N.D. A friends and family service will be held on Thurs., April 17, 2025 at the Fulkerson Stevenson Memorial Chapel at 5 p.m. Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home of Watford City, N.D., is assisting the family.
