Watford City Police Department awarded to support officer medical readiness

The Watford City Police Department is proud to announce that it has been awarded two generous grants, totaling $15,500 to enhance officer preparedness and community safety. Continental Resources awarded the department a $6,000 grant, and ConocoPhillips contributed an additional $9,500. The funds will be used to purchase updated First Responder Medical Kits, which will be carried by all officers during their shifts to provide rapid medical assistance during emergencies.

“These kits are essential for our officers to be able to provide immediate care on the scene,” said Chief Jesse Wellen. “In 2024 alone, our department responded to 242 medical calls. Having this equipment readily available can be the difference between life or death.” The new medical kits will enhance the department’s ability to respond effectively to a wide range of medical emergencies - supporting not only officer safety, but also the well-being of the citizens they serve.

“We are incredibly thankful to Continental Resources for their continued commitment to public safety in our community,” said Cheif Wellen. “This grant allows us to equip every officer with essential lifesaving tools that can make a difference in critical moments.”
Chief Wellen also expressed deep appreciation to ConocoPhillips, stating, “Their support goes a long way in helping our department maintain a high level of readiness. These new medical kits will help ensure our officers are prepared to respond quickly and effectively when seconds matter most.”

The Watford City Police Department remains committed to enhancing emergency response capabilities and it grateful for the strong partnerships with local industry leaders who invest in the safety and well-being of the region.
