A fresh wave of leadership has surged into the North Dakota House, as Representative Jeremy Olson takes the helm as Majority Caucus Leader for the 2025 session, promising to champion the needs of his constituents like never before. This appointment marks an important step for Olson, allowing him to play a pivotal role in guiding legislative priorities and operations for the House Republican caucus.
“I was elected to this position by my peers, which is a great honor,” Olson explained during a recent interview. “As Majority Caucus Leader, I will handle much of the day-to-day operations, allowing our majority leader to focus on broader leadership responsibilities.” As he prepares for the upcoming session, Olson is focused on key priorities, particularly in the areas of finance, tax law, energy and natural resources. “I was reappointed to both the finance and tax committee and the energy and natural resources committee,” he noted. “This is vital for District 26, as we are in the heart of oil country. It’s essential to ensure that our landowners and businesses are well represented.”
A pressing issue on the legislative agenda is property tax reform, particularly following the defeat of Measure 4. Though the Measure was rejected by voters statewide, Olson said that the message behind it “was received loud and clear…We need to pursue comprehensive tax reform as a priority,” Olson asserted. “There are over 50 bills currently in draft related to property tax, and we are committed to finding a solution that works for North Dakota citizens.”
