Alexander readies for 76th annual Old Settlers’ Day

The long Labor Day weekend brings a long-running local celebration to the community of Alexander as they will be hosting their 76th annual Old Settlers’ Day celebration. The three-day event, which runs from Thursday, Sept. 2, through Saturday, Sept. 4, is honoring Ed and Mary Rettig this year, featuring events such as a chili cook-off, park barbecue, soapbox derby and street dance.
The three days of fun kick off on Thursday with a bonfire at 7 p.m.
Day two starts at 1 p.m. on Friday on Alexander’s Main Street with a chili cook-off until 7 p.m.
Friday’s activities continue on Main Street with a soapbox derby at 6 p.m., followed by a street dance at 9 p.m. with music by Josh Kehr.
