Alexander Public School receives funding for childcare

The city of Alexander has been steadily moving forward with the project of building a daycare. A public ground-breaking ceremony took place on Tuesday, June 11, and officials estimate that the project will be completed within the first two months of 2025.
While the construction of the new facility is officially underway, the city still faces the problem of child care until it opens. One of the biggest employers in the city is the Alexander Public School District, and they have been particularly challenged with the lack of available childcare for their employees.
To combat this challenge, the school sponsored an employee-exclusive daycare during the last school year, with the intent to close the facility once the new daycare is completed.
The McKenzie County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) helped to bridge the operational cost of that endeavor during the 2023-2024 school year, and Leslie Bieber, superintendent of Alexander Public Schools, went before the BOCC to ask for the county’s help again for the 2024-2025 school year.
