Alexander Comets FTC Team earns spot at prestigious international event in Eindhoven, Netherlands

The Alexander Comets FTC Team #9963, a talented group of students from the small rural community of Alexander, N.D., has earned a coveted spot at the prestigious FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) International Premiere event in Eindhoven, Netherlands this July. The team will compete against 95 other teams from around the globe in what promises to be an unforgettable experience and an extraordinary opportunity for both the students and their community.
This remarkable achievement marks a significant milestone for the Alexander Comets and highlights the hard work, dedication, and teamwork that has defined their journey in the world of robotics. The team will now join 95 other teams from countries around the world to showcase their innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges, all while honing their skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
“Our team has worked tirelessly to earn this opportunity,” said Cathy White, the team coach. “This is an incredible achievement not only for the Comets, but for the entire Alexander community. To compete on a global stage in such a prestigious event is a dream come true for these students, and it speaks volumes about their talent and the support of our community.”
First Tech Challenge is an internationally recognized robotics competition that encourages students to engage in hands-on STEM learning through building and programming robots. The competition requires students to design, prototype, and test robots to solve complex tasks, all while fostering important skills such as problem-solving, collaboration, and perseverance. This experience helps students prepare for future careers in the rapidly growing STEM fields.
The Alexander Comets’ participation in the event in Eindhoven is a testament to the strength of small-town innovation and the power of dedication. Despite the challenges of limited resources and a rural setting, the Comets have proven that hard work and creativity can overcome any obstacle.
“We are so proud of what the team has accomplished, and we are excited for the experiences and lessons they will take from this international competition,” said Matthew Kline, the team captain. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and we can’t wait to represent our community on the world stage.”
The team will need to raise funds to cover the costs of travel, lodging, and competition fees. The Alexander Comets are seeking donations and sponsorships to help make this incredible opportunity a reality. Community support will play a crucial role in ensuring the team can compete at the event and continue to grow as young leaders and innovators.
