14 arrested in NW North Dakota in prostitution ring

Farmer Staff Reports:
The Stanley police department reports that it teamed up with the Ray Police Department in December and January, in a targeted effort to surveil online platforms commonly used by people looking to engage in criminal sexual activities. 10 of the people were arrested in Ray.
The Bismarck Tribune reports that all 14 were charged with a Class B prostitution misdemeanor. Three people also face charges relating to drugs and paraphernalia, which were found in their possession when they attempted to meet the individual they believed would participate in the sexual activities. About eight grams of methamphetamine was seized.
Class B misdemeanors are punishable by maximum sentences of 30 days in jail and a $1,500 fine.
Police indicate that among those arrested were two Bismarck women and an alleged illegal immigrant from Mexico.
Stanley Police say other investigations are ongoing into people attempting to participate in sex-for-hire activity. They encourage the public to report any information they have about illegal activities that involve sexual exploitation and human trafficking.
