PATRICE'S PERSPECTIVE

PATRICE'S PERSPECTIVE

Hello friends, if you read my column, you already know I missed last week. I apologize, I believe I am finally on the tail-end of whatever respiratory illness took over my body. Yes, I still have a cough, congestion and fatigue, but I think that is to be expected considering I have been under the weather since New Years.
What’s the Buzz? Seems like an odd way to start. I promise it is not. Earlier this month I let it slip that we at The Farmer have been working extremely hard for the past several months working on upgrading how we deliver the news to our customers. We have finally hit the “test phase” of our new Mobile App. That’s right! Pretty soon, The Farmer and KTGO Radio will be launching a mobile app that will be free for everyone to enjoy, exciting right!
Why are we so excited? Well, once you have downloaded the Bakken Buzz on your mobile device, you will have access to local and regional news. This app will allow us to bring you news as it happens. Also, up-to-date weather, area sports, and so much more!
Did I mention, that our customers will also be able to tune into the live streaming of KTGO Radio shows? Yup, we will have that too!
And, we are planning to include local events on the app. The Bakken Buzz will be your hub for upcoming community events in the future - so if you have an event planned for the community to enjoy, please reach out to us at The Farmer, so we can work with you on getting your event included.
It is our goal to use this new technology to continue to bring you local news and updates, but also, keep you informed on what is happening in North Dakota outside of McKenzie County.
Yes, we will still continue to print the newspaper, as we have since 1908. And yes, we still hand-deliver the bundles to the local post office every Tuesday.
If a physical copy of the newspaper isn’t up your alley, our online subscriptions are less than $1 per week and that edition gets posted to our website every Tuesday for our customers.
If you haven’t already subscribed, check out our website www.watfordcitynd.com and snag your subscription soon. It’s not very often you are able to get your news at a price that costs less than a bottle of water. I honestly, do not know of any other subscription that I personally have, that cost less than a year subscription to The Farmer.
One last thing, our Radio Studio is 95 percent complete. We are adding the final touches this week. Soon, community members will be seeing Scott Hennen on Wednesdays, doing his show live from Watford City! Pretty neat right! Don’t worry, if you happen to miss his show on Wednesdays, we will be featuring interviews in the newspaper for you!
2025 is going to be an exciting year for the county’s oldest business. We hope you come along with us!
