AS I SEE IT

People who travel by airplane or other forms of mass transit can finally breathe a sigh of relief following the ruling by a federal judge last week that the mask mandate on public transportation was unconstitutional. That mandate was imposed two years ago to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
In making her 59-page decision, Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle said that the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) had exceeded its legal authority under the Public Health Services Act of 1944.
And that announcement was welcomed by the airline industry, as well as many air travelers who have questioned why that mask mandate was the last to fall. Already most cities and states have dropped the mask mandate and masks are no longer required for people attending major sporting events or other large gatherings.
